Play Poker Online for Free (No Download, No Sign-up?): Where to Play for Play Money
“Free poker, no registration” is one of the most searched poker phrases — and one of the most misleading. Real poker against real people almost always needs an account, but that account is free, and so is the play. Here are the honest options: where to play for play money, how to set up a free game with friends, what freerolls give you, and which “free” offers are actually traps.
Updated: 19 October 2026- Poker against real people with no account at all barely exists: the table has to know who holds which chips. But signing up is free and takes a minute.
- Free options: play-money tables in apps and rooms, a private game with friends (Pokerrrr 2, your own ClubGG club) and freerolls — free tournaments with real prizes.
- Free poker is great for learning the rules, hand rankings and the interface — but opponents play very differently than for money.
- If a “free” site asks for card details or sells “free chips”, it’s not free — leave.
Can you play poker online without registering?
Short answer: against real players — almost never. Even when chips have no value, the game must know which seat belongs to whom, keep your stack between hands, stop one person from playing several seats and keep bots out. That takes an account. What you can find without one are browser games against bots and guest modes for practising the controls — fine for learning the order of actions, but it’s not a real game.
Five ways to play poker for free
| Option | Account? | Who you play | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Play-money tables in club apps (ClubGG, PPPoker) | Yes, free | Real people | Learning the interface and mobile tables |
| Private game with friends (Pokerrrr 2, own ClubGG club) | Yes, free | Your friends | Home games online, any settings |
| Play money in poker rooms (PokerStars and others) | Yes, free | Real people | Trying a room’s software and formats |
| Freerolls | Yes; some need a deposit | Real people | Real prizes with no buy-in |
| Browser games and trainers vs bots | Sometimes not | Bots | Learning the rules in five minutes |
Below — each option in detail, plus what to watch out for.
Play-money tables in poker apps
Club poker apps are free to install, and some have play-money games outside private clubs. ClubGG is free to play for play-money chips, and PPPoker has shared play-money tables outside clubs. You get real opponents, real mobile tables, hold’em and Omaha — just without money at stake.

- 1Install the app only from the official store or the developer’s site — links are on our apps page. Step-by-step: how to download a poker app.
- 2Create an account: email or a sign-in option the app offers. No card, no documents.
- 3Find the play-money games in the lobby or create a table in your own club — ClubGG lets you create up to 3 clubs for free.
- 4Play a few sessions to get used to bet buttons, time banks and multi-tabling. Then decide whether you want real money at all.
Free with friends: a private game in Pokerrrr 2
If you want to play with people you know, Pokerrrr 2 is the easiest free option. The app grew out of home games: anyone can host a table, and friends join with a game code. You can play without real money — it’s a home game, just online.
- Games: Texas Hold’em, PLO, R.O.E., Short Deck, 7 Card Stud, OFC, Rummy, SNG and MTT.
- Table: 2 to 10 seats, your own blinds, buy-in and game length.
- Cost: installing and playing are free; the host pays for hosting in Gold, the in-app currency — cash games per hour, tournaments per game.
- Extras for home games: rabbit hunting, the 7-2 game, double board.

Alternative: create your own club in ClubGG for free and invite friends by club ID — it works on iPhone, Android, Windows and Mac. Full walkthrough: how to play poker online with friends. Installing Pokerrrr 2: step-by-step guide.
Play money in online poker rooms
Big poker rooms also have free tables. On PokerStars creating an account, installing the client and playing for play money cost nothing; there are also Home Games for private play-money or real-money games with friends. Winamax’s app has free tournaments and play-money tables, and CoinPoker runs Practice Games for play money. Availability depends on your country — the room decides who can register.
| Room | Free option (from our reviews) | Review |
|---|---|---|
| PokerStars | Play-money tables, Home Games with friends | PokerStars review |
| 888poker | $8 in free tournament tickets with no deposit (forty at $0.10, four at $1); freerolls | 888poker review |
| Winamax | Free tournaments and play-money tables | Winamax review |
| CoinPoker | Practice Games for play money; frequent freerolls | CoinPoker review |

Freerolls: free entry, real prizes
A freeroll is a tournament with no buy-in where the prize pool is paid by the room or club. It’s the only way to win real money without depositing — but fields are huge, prizes are small and some freerolls are only for players who have deposited. Clubs in poker apps run their own freerolls for members.

What about “Russian poker” and other casino games?
“Russian poker” is a casino table game: you play against the dealer, not against other players, based on five-card poker. It’s a different game from Texas Hold’em, where you beat other people and the house only takes rake. If you’re looking for a game against real opponents, look for Texas Hold’em or Omaha — that’s what apps, rooms and clubs offer.
Free play vs real money: what changes
Play money is perfect for learning the mechanics, but don’t take strategy lessons from it. When chips cost nothing, people play almost any two cards and go all-in to see what happens.
| Play money | Real money | |
|---|---|---|
| Hands played | Almost everything | Selective, especially from early position |
| All-ins | Constant, with weak hands | Rare, mostly strong hands or short stacks |
| Bluffs | Rarely work — someone always calls | Work against players who can fold |
| What you learn | Rules, hand rankings, buttons, pace | Strategy, discipline, bankroll |
How to make free poker actually useful
- Learn the rules and hand rankings before the first session — then play to reinforce them.
- Pick one game (usually No-Limit Hold’em) and one format until it feels natural.
- Play as if the chips were real: fold weak hands, think about position.
- After the session, check a couple of big hands in the equity calculator.
- Use freerolls and tiny stakes as the next step — they show how people really play.

When “free poker” is a trap
A free game never needs your payment details. Most problems start when “free” is used as bait.
- Red flags
- A “free” site or app asks for card details “to verify your age” or “to unlock bonus chips”.
- Someone sells or gives away “free chips” or promo codes for club apps — chips with value come only from a club agent.
- An APK from a random site or a chat instead of the official store or the developer’s site.
- Programs that promise to “see opponents’ cards” or “guarantee wins” — they steal accounts or money.
- A “free tournament” that asks you to send money to a personal card to collect a prize.

Moving to real money
If free games got you hooked, start with the smallest stakes and a separate bankroll you’re ready to lose. In rooms that means a licensed site from our rating; in apps — a verified club from our catalog. Where to start and how to compare options: where to play poker for money and bankroll management.
